I was on a stakeout for the Herald in Worcester all day and I was hungry at about 6:45am. I plugged in “best breakfast Worcester” into my Blackberry and the Kenmore Diner on Franklin St. popped up. Off I was to grab my veggie omelet. I thought, hey, this area looks familiar. Could it be that this area was the site of the Worcester fire tragedy at the cold storage facility? And then all of a sudden, all the emotions came back, under that damn bridge. They, of course, knocked the building down and for those who do not know, a fire station and a beautiful memorial to the firefighters who died that day has been erected. Below is a photo I snapped a few days after that horrible day as firefighters honored the dead.

No Holiday for Boston’s First Responders on Thanksgiving.

As so many families were getting ready to sit with family and feast on all the good things Thanksgiving has to offer, Boston firefighters, EMS and police were responding to a multi-vehicle accident. They eased the pain of a small child, an infant and several adults who were hurt in the late morning accident that occurred near the Broadway bridge. Please see my photos below. In top photo, firefighter Edward Kelly of Ladder 17 is seen calming a young boy. Brian Carey of Rescue 1 holds an infant in the next photo. In the Third photo, an unidentified Boston EMS member holds the same infant. Story here.

Marblehead Harbormaster Rescues Woman and Two Kids.

I happened upon this as I was in Swampscott yesterday afternoon. From twitter reports and what I witnessed, it appears that 2 boys, floating on an inflatable “donut”, were blown out to sea at Preston beach by the strong west wind, and that an aunt of one of the boy’s swam out to try and save them. All three were corralled by the Marblehead Harbormaster and then brought to shore by Marblehead firefighters. See my photos below.
