A Buff Anthony Shriver Visits Camp Shriver.

Anthony Shriver, nephew of President John F. Kennedy, shows his diving prowess during a visit with child participants on the closing day of this year’s installment of Camp Shriver, a summer day camp for children with and without disabilities. First he does a flip off the diving board and then he greets camper Liam Galvin. See slide show below. My photos were snapped at UMASS Boston and a Boston Herald story by Natalie Sherman, can be found here.

The Democratic National Convention comes to Boston. As part of the Boston Herald’s photo coverage, I was assigned to cover any protest flare ups outside of the then Fleet Center. The above photo is of Boston police Sgt Michael O’Connor speaking with two protestors who are telling him: “it’s just chocolate, honest!” The bottom photo is an arrest of a protestor.

(07/22/08-Boston,Mass)  After a Boston police officer spotted a woman screaming for help as she leaned out a car’s passenger side window, a high speed chase ensued on the southeast expressway. After nearly 8 miles, police boxed the car in between an innocent driver’s SUV and a guardrail. The driver then repeatedly rammed the car in front and several cruisers, wreaking havoc along the highway. The victim said the woman driving was her wife and that they got into an argument. Here, below top, guns drawn then an innocent driver whose car inadvertently blocked in the suspect’s car is protected by police. Below bottom is the dramatic sequence. Photographed while on my Herald shift.

This moment was around 9:30pm tonight. A strong bolt, but I wish my foreground was a bit more interesting. Maybe next time…

Scenes from Storrow Drive as trooper 1049 runs a speed trap as drivers move over. This also shows an alleged speeder looking in disbelief at the trooper who is trying to pull her over safely to the side of the road to administer speedy justice. He then shows the driver the evidence, his radar.

Dick & Sons barber shop, a north shore landmark, will be closing after 72 years in business.  Dick Maniglia, an immigrant from Sicily, started the business in 1935. His sons Tony, Richie, Joey and Uncle Al Maniglia all worked here with dad. Dick, Al and Joey have since passed away, leaving only Tony and Richie. When asked about the closing, Richie would say only that it “was time”. Above caption from my 2007 photo essay entitled, “Last Shave”. Please see my photo slide show of the brothers and their last week in July 2007.
