by markadmin Posted: Monday, 2/18/2013He won consecutive Pulitzers in the mid 1970’s while covering the streets as a Boston Herald news photographer. One was awarded for a horrific scene as a fire escape collapsed during a fire rescue in Boston’s Back Bay. The other was awarded for a photo he snapped of Ted Landsmark, an African American man who happened upon an anti busing protest and was assaulted by an American flag-wielding protester. The last photo here shows Boston firefighter Steve MacDonald peering into a car where a boy was killed yesterday after being overcome by carbon monoxide fumes.

Problems continued today for Japan Airlines’ Dreamliner 787 at Boston’s Logan Airport.
by markadmin Posted: Tuesday, 1/8/2013I photographed a Japan Airlines Dreamliner 787 that was experiencing a fuel leak today, one day after a different JAL Dreamliner 787 had a small fire in its cargo belly. Here are my photos as Massport firefighters, officials and a crew from CleanHarbors, work to contain and then clean up the fuel. by markadmin Posted: Monday, 1/7/2013I photographed smoke coming out of the cargo hold today as Massport firefighters, with a backup from the Boston Fire department, first investigated and then doused the morning fire. See my photos below of today’s event and also my photos from when the jet experienced happier times at Logan, first in Boeing colors, and then the inaugural flight from Japan. Second Boston-area animal rescue in 25 hours, both with unsuccessful endings.
by markadmin Posted: Friday, 1/4/2013Waltham firefighters along with Animal Rescue League personnel rescued a deer from the ice on that city’s Cambridge Reservoir. The deer had to be put down later in the day. That follows an unsuccessful attempt yesterday by North Shore firefighters, led by the Swampscott Fire Department, to rescue a dog at a house fire in that town. Both were dangerous and valiant efforts, that I witnessed. See my photos below.
