Scenes from Storrow Drive as trooper 1049 runs a speed trap as drivers move over. This also shows an alleged speeder looking in disbelief at the trooper who is trying to pull her over safely to the side of the road to administer speedy justice. He then shows the driver the evidence, his radar.

Boston fire department works at today’s 4-Alarm Fire in HOT Charlestown.
by markadmin Posted: Tuesday, 7/6/2010This was the hottest fire that I have ever covered as a news photographer. I arrived at least 3 minutes before the fire department because I spotted the flames while driving near Bunker Hill Community College. I parked so as to not interfere with the apparatus and to not get myself blocked in. The first photo shows the first man that I encountered. He was a passerby who is loudly asking if anyone has called 911. The next photo is of neighbors knocking on the front doors of the affected condos. Please see my Herald photo gallery here.

Boston fire department district chief Steve Paschal yells commands from a smokey 4th floor window as a 4-alarm fire burns at #39 and #41 High Street in Charlestown.
Boston, Meet Justin Tranter, the Lead Singer of Semi Precious Weapons.
by markadmin Posted: Friday, 7/2/2010The band, earlier today, used Twitter to announce that they would soon appear at the Prudential Center to give fans a chance to win tickets to tonight’s Lady Gaga and Semi Precious Weapons show at the Garden. The boys hopped off a bus at the Pru and did their thing. I just met and photographed this young lead singer , a real gentleman, and also met their very young and very nice road manager. Good luck to them. See my photo below.
The Rush Hour Scene on the Tobin Bridge as Man Threatens to Jump.
by markadmin Posted: Tuesday, 6/29/2010A man exited his car on the Tobin Bridge’s upper deck during this evening’s rush hour and climbed up onto a railing threatening to jump. An ambulance crew from Chelsea’s Cataldo Ambulance and a Chelsea police officer were the first to reach him, according to audio on the police scanner. Boston firefighters, Boston EMS, Boston fire’s Marine Unit and the state police then arrived. The man was finally talked down after almost an hour teetering on the railing, in the wind. This was my view from Charlestown. Please, to anyone considering anything like this, get help, things do get better…or call the samaritans.
(06/25/00-Boston,Mass.) Mark Wahlberg returns to Dorchester. Here, he is seen hanging out with some kids at his old hangout, The Daniel Marr Boys and Girls Club. It was on the occasion of the grand opening of the Paul R. McLaughlin Youth Center. According to many sources at the club, Wahlberg was the last kid to be kicked out of the club. Shot for the Boston Herald.

Dramatic Video of 2007 Incident Similar To Alitalia’s Boston Jet Engine Failure.
by markadmin Posted: Wednesday, 6/16/2010Last evening’s engine failure aboard an Alitalia/Air One Airbus 330 has not officially been called a “bird strike.” But one 2007 incident, captured dramatically here by photographer Simon Lowe, shows some similarities in cockpit audio transmissions as well as witness descriptions of intermittent fire and popping sounds. Liveatc.net has last evening’s cockpit audio transmissions between Logan tower and the pilot here (Alitalia-61G-Engine-Failure-KBOS-2010-06-15). Listen how the Logan controller directs the jet around radio towers, presumably the Needham TV towers. Watch and listen to both incidents and see how calm all involved are. More of Simon’s work can be seen here. The plane, below, is the actual plane with the tail number of “EI-DIP” shown in a photo I snapped May 10.

Vivid lightning struck the Boston area yet again last evening. I headed to Revere Beach, as I did a few days ago, due to the strong storms that were headed toward Swampscott and Lynn etc. I snapped these people checking out the show. EDITORS NOTE: Lightning is the second leading killer in the “hazardous weather killing” category so…don’t try this at home! Also, that is the Massachusetts State Police Revere barracks in the first photo. Herald story is here.
